so depressing that the thing that a higher barrier for professional entry in creative fields based on how well someone can market themselves tends to weed out is honestly usually not people who are making bad art, it’s the people who are kind of weird and obsessive and really good at one specific thing, which is making their art, and who are not terribly good at marketing or maybe literally anything else. and that is a damn shame! because we need those people…so much of my favorite art of all time was made by these people.
